Hi Remodelaholics! Cyndy here from The Creativity Exchange back with my monthly paint color post. If you happened to miss my post from last month, I highlighted a great versatile color called Wythe Blue from Benjamin Moore here.
For today’s post, I’m doing another Color Spotlight and highlighting one of the best grays out there called Silver Strand from Sherwin Williams.

Sherwin-Williams’ Silver Strand
Silver Strand from Sherwin Williams is one of the more popular grays out there right now. I have been wanting to feature this color for awhile because this is one of the best paint colors to use in spaces with little or no natural light. It’s always so hard to find beautiful colors for those dark/artificially lighted spaces like the bathroom, laundry room and basement-with little natural light. Today, I’m hoping I can help those of you trying to choose colors for these lighting trouble spots by sharing this great color.
While I like the Silver Strand in full natural light, it does go cooler and more gray/blue. Again, the beauty of this color is what happens in artificial light, where this color is a dream!
Let me show you what I think Silver Strand does best. Look at these spaces with little to no natural light and you can see the green/blue in the undertone of the gray just come right out.
This bathroom below has no natural light and only artificial and you can see just how the green balanced with blue in the undertone really makes this color shine.

Silver Strand is also great to use in spaces like stairwells with little natural light.
In spaces with a little more light but still not full natural light (like bedrooms), Silver Strand shines.
You can see Silver Strand also is a beautiful foyer/entry way color as well and even better, Silver Strand is a gray that beautifully compliments warmer wood tones.
In spaces with full natural light, Silver Strand is still a pretty gray but as you can see below, it’s just a little cooler and that pretty green/blue is not as prominent. However, at night with the lights on, Silver Strand looks amazing.
If you have these trouble spot areas with little or no natural light, I hope you will take a closer look and sample Silver Strand. As you can see, it’s a beautiful color and it really shines in these poor lighting situations.
