Inspiration File: Historic and Exclusive New Mexico Home

When you move in somewhere new, you can’t wait to really make it yours. Setting your home apart from your neighbors, and adding the flare you have inside you takes one very important thing: inspiration! We always strive to add lots of photos to all of our posts because we know inspiring images really help you find the style and look you want for your home. Today we have another elegant and unique home and inspiration from Violante & Rochford, interior designers based out of New Mexico. Their homes have a Southwestern flare, but are modernized and very open. Each home is different and very much portrays the personalities of their clients, or as they call them, their friends. (See more of their work here and in our Inspiration Files)

Canyon Road Contemporary by Santa Fe designers Violante & Rochford is in an especially historic, exclusive neighborhood. The house is a new build, and Violante & Rochford were brought in during the building to suggest finishes, color palette, materials and more that would be part of their overall décor plan.

This is a second home for a very high-profile couple from Texas, who have two children. The couple wanted the house to be stylish, chic and sophisticated without being too formal or fussy.

Every piece in the house is comfortable and durable, yet still elegant. The provenance of the décor is international, yet there are a lot of distinctly New Mexican pieces and architecture that reflect the history of where the house is situated.

The aesthetic is meant to be very clean, no clutter, sleek lines and space to roam around in. In general, the décor is a mix of periods, styles and locales, which is the Violante & Rochford signature. And worked into that, treasures from the family that make the home distinctly theirs. An 18th Century chest co-exists harmoniously with more modern pieces. The art is a mix of the whimsical and two works by major abstract expressionist, Emily Mason (from Greenwich Village in NYC), and Forest Moses, an important New Mexico artist.

Following the stylish, chic and sophisticated interior, their landscape was designed to not be too formal or fussy. It is simple, elegant, and by any definition absolutely stunning. It very much portrays a very clean area that is not going to be a headache to maintain. We love the sleek lines of their walkways and the space they have to roam around outdoors.
